Gabrielle Touchette

Welcome and thanks for visiting my blog! I'm a freelance photographer based in Winnipeg, Canada and I absolutely love what I do. I started my photography business a couple years ago after graduating from PrairieView School of Photography with a diploma in professional photography. What I learned at school was invaluable but I don't believe a diploma is more important than a strong portfolio.

My love of photography started a long time ago with a point & shoot camera, and my passion for this art form continues to grow with every shoot I do. I love photographing people and events and I am captivated by honest emotion and fleeting moments. My first love is the creation of photographic art and I'm in the constant pursuit of capturing the unconventional beauty of life. I believe every photograph should have intention because everything has a story and a purpose to communicate.

When I'm not busy shooting weddings, portraits or events, I teach photography classes at PrairieView and work on art projects for exhibitions with my photographic art collective, f/action.

"To take photographs means to recognize - simultaneously and within a fraction of a second - both the fact itself and the rigorous organization of visually perceived forms that give it meaning. It is putting one's head, one's eye and one's heart on the same axis."

-Henri Cartier-Bresson

What a cute couple! Actually, more than just cute, they were such lovely people and it definitely confirmed...

Engagement Session: Gisèle et Denis

Denis proposed to Gisèle on a train bridge out in beautiful Petersfield, Manitoba – so what better place to shoot their engagement photos than there! The setting was gorgeous and peaceful, and the shoot was relaxed. Gisèle and Denis are obviously in love, but not only that, they are such kind, warm-hearted people, and their...

Discoveries at St. Vital Park

I was out shooting an engagement session at St. Vital park this past weekend, and what a perfect time to go! It had just rained, so everything was saturated with colour and richness, and with the sun still hiding behind a thick sky of clouds, the lighting was beautiful: soft yet contrasty. The one down...

Headshots – Formal & Casual

I had the pleasure of doing another headshot session last week, this time with Philippe, who needed both professional and casual headshots. I’m big on natural light and so we took advantage of the beautiful day – both indoor window light and outdoor settings. We varied the locations and lighting which gave us a wide...

Family Portrait Photography

We’ve been having gorgeous weekends here in Winnipeg lately, and it’s been good timing for outdoor portraits. I got a call around 2pm last Sunday afternoon with a request for a last minute family photo shoot to take place at 5:30pm. Sometimes finding time when the entire family is available for a photo is rare!...
