Gabrielle Touchette

Welcome and thanks for visiting my blog! I'm a freelance photographer based in Winnipeg, Canada and I absolutely love what I do. I started my photography business a couple years ago after graduating from PrairieView School of Photography with a diploma in professional photography. What I learned at school was invaluable but I don't believe a diploma is more important than a strong portfolio.

My love of photography started a long time ago with a point & shoot camera, and my passion for this art form continues to grow with every shoot I do. I love photographing people and events and I am captivated by honest emotion and fleeting moments. My first love is the creation of photographic art and I'm in the constant pursuit of capturing the unconventional beauty of life. I believe every photograph should have intention because everything has a story and a purpose to communicate.

When I'm not busy shooting weddings, portraits or events, I teach photography classes at PrairieView and work on art projects for exhibitions with my photographic art collective, f/action.

"To take photographs means to recognize - simultaneously and within a fraction of a second - both the fact itself and the rigorous organization of visually perceived forms that give it meaning. It is putting one's head, one's eye and one's heart on the same axis."

-Henri Cartier-Bresson

What has Gabrielle been up to? (…you wonder)

Well, time flies! April turned out to be a pretty busy/hectic month of shooting, editing and meeting new people. It’s been wonderful! (that and the weather). From headshots at Great West Life, to a poster campaign to promote French in schools, to photographing a children’s musical group throwing brussel sprouts at my camera (I promise...

Spring Tulips!

It’s that exciting and inspiring time of year again, and although I’m not quite going out in sandals yet, I’m pretty ecstatic none-the-less! Spring is here, and there’s something about the warm air, the sun and evening light that gives me energy. I have a bunch of art projects brewing in my mind, as well...

Yellow Dog and Times Change(d)

I spent a little time with some high ISOs at the Yellow Dog and at Times Change(d) the other night. It was a great night to reconnect with old co-workers, past students, family members and my husband, as well as to check out Sara’s newest camera (garage sale find) and listen to some great music...

West End Cultural Centre – ROCK THE BABY!

This is old news by now, but I finally got around to posting this from an event last month at the West End Cultural Centre. My good friends Sean and Natasha put together an awesome night of music and art to raise funds for their adoption of a little Ethiopian baby boy. They have been...

Manitoba Landscape Photography – and the joys of Adobe Lightroom…

Yesterday I packed two cameras, picked my favourite two lenses, jumped in the car, picked up my friend Natasha (who’s always up for shooting if I lend her a camera), and headed north on Highway 8. We wound up not where we were hoping to be (in Petersfield), but that’s another story… On the way...
